The Pastor's Letter
Dear Visitor to our Website,
Welcome to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Parish website in Alice, Texas!
We have much to be grateful for here at St. Elizabeth's. We have an active Religious Education Program with instruction for all youth of the parish. In addition we have classes for adult instruction in the faith through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) classes and sacramental preparation programs for parents and children for First Confession, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation. We have special preparation programs for the sacraments of Baptism and Marriage. We work to help everyone to deepen their love for the Lord Jesus and His Church through a good understanding of the Catholic faith and the duties incumbent upon their state in life so that they may grow in divine love and work out their salvation in fidelity to the Lord.
St. Elizabeth Parish has an active Catholic School that has been serving the community for over 50 years and has alumni in many parts of our country. We currently have K-4 through grade 6 and offer our children good academic instruction as well as Catholic formation in faith and morals.
Our parish has several organizations that help in the mission of our Church. We have a St. Vincent de Paul Society that dispenses aid to many families in our community each month. St. Elizabeth Parish has a Knights of Columbus Council and Columbian Squires, and an Altar and Rosary Society as well as Altar Servers. If you have an interest in any of these organizations or groups please let us know. Our parish also has a Parish Council and Finance Council and persons who serve as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Readers, Choir members and visitation teams to the hospitals and nursing homes to the sick and shut-ins of our parish.
We encourage our parishioners to embrace biblical tithing which brings many blessings from the Lord. If you have any questions I direct you to the phone numbers of our parish. The weekly parish bulletin is made available through the generosity of many of the businesses of our community.
May the prayers of St. Elizabeth of Hungary, the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph obtain for you abundant graces from the Lord.
Sincerely in Christ,
Reverend Monsignor Leonard Pivonka, JCD
Pastor
